Meeting a strange dog !

Never accept a dog owner's suggestion that you "make friends" with his dog by touching or feeding the animal. Remember, the dog should make the first overture of friendship, not you. And he will not do this until he smells you.

What should you do when you meet a strange dog? Never ever pat a strange dog on the head or under his chin. In fact you should not move you body or hand around much. Look for sign if the dog is a friendly or unfriendly dog. Do not make any threatening gesture. Do not panic and run. Wait to see what the dog is going to do. He will probably sniff around and walk away if you do not show any unfriendly gesture.

Great site. I only wish it had been around back when we were raising Boxers.

who never met a dog (4-legged variety) he didn't like.

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this. I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me. Thanks!
